Human skeletal remains discovered in Alpine’s Lambert Park

Human skeletal remains were found within Lambert Park in Alpine, the Lone Peak Police Department announced Saturday in a release.

Authorities said around 8:30 p.m. Friday, a caller recreating at the nature park reported what they suspected to be human bones, responding officers arrived and confirmed “the presence of what appeared to be human skeletal remains.”

The area was blocked off and the scene and made sure it was secured before investigative steps were initiated the next morning during daylight hours, police said.

Lambert park is largely undeveloped and used for biking, equestrian, and foot traffic.

Investigators from Lone Peak Police Department along with assistance from the State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted a thorough examination and evidence collection on Saturday morning, according to the release.

“At this time, the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their death remain under investigation,” the department said.

The remains were transported to the medical examiner’s office for further examination and identification.
