New Spring City Activity Center set to open in 2024.

SPRING CITY — Spring City Arts Art Gallery, a long-standing presence on Spring City’s Main Street, will soon have a new home in the newly restored Spring City Activity Center. This transition marks a significant change for the non-profit organization, which has been part of the Strate Garage building for many years.

The move to the Spring City Activity Center is part of a broader renovation effort made possible with the support of Friends of Historic Spring City. For many locals, the Activity Center is affectionately known as the “Old Junior High School,” situated at 150 E. Center St. Besides housing Spring City Arts, the Activity Center is also home to the Spring City Fire Department and offers various rooms for local events. Its location places it directly east of the Spring City Community Center, the same city block where numerous summer concerts take place.

Ted Hinckley, president of Spring City Arts, expressed mixed emotions about the move. He stated, “Spring City Arts has had an amazing run at the Strate Garage location, and we will miss being right on Main Street. However, we look forward to this new chapter for Spring City Arts.” Hinckley emphasized the organization’s excitement about the additional spaces available at the Activity Center, which will enable them to host larger events.

The Main St. Gallery on Spring City’s Main Street will remain open until December 16th. This date coincides with Friends of Historic Spring City’s Candlelight Christmas Tour. Spring City Arts is planning a Christmas Artisan Market from Dec. 6 to 16, which will serve as the final event at their Main Street location. Following this, the gallery will be closed during January and February 2024 for preparations at the Spring City Activity Center. A grand opening at the new space will be announced once it’s complete.

Before the move, Spring City Arts has a packed schedule for the fall at its Main Street location. This includes a Snow College Art Show from Nov. 10 to Nov. 17 and a concert featuring renowned banjo player Mean Mary on Nov. 18. On Dec. 15, Spring City Arts will participate in “Christmas A La Vivaldi” in concert with a chamber orchestra at the ballroom in the Spring City Community Center.

Spring City Arts has a core mission of promoting local Spring City and Sanpete artists. It provides a platform for these artists to showcase and sell their works while hosting various artistic events throughout the year, encompassing music, literary, and art shows. One of its annual highlights is the successful Plein Air painting competition, which concludes on the Saturday before Labor Day each year. This event comprises an artist studio tour and a live auction that aims to support and celebrate local artists.

Starting at $4.32/week.
