Expressing their gratitude, Leidy Carreno Mora shared, “We are happy. It is the best New Year’s gift you could have. Grateful for the care received at the hospital. A great job by the medical staff. That she was the first baby born in this hospital in the year 2024 will be a nice story to tell our daughter.”

New beginnings are always special, and Alisson’s arrival holds a unique charm. The Moreno Carrero family had just relocated to the area a couple of days before Alisson’s delivery, and they hadn’t even found a provider for the birth. Suzy Zahler, RN, women and newborn manager at the hospital, reflected on this extraordinary circumstance, saying, “New Year’s babies are the best. But this one stands out as this cute couple had just moved here a couple of days before her delivery and hadn’t even had time to find a provider to deliver her baby yet. Having the opportunity to welcome them to the area as well as be with them as they welcomed their baby in this new year was a beautiful experience.”

Delivering physician Eric Jones, DO, shared his sentiments on the joyous occasion, stating, “Delivering babies is a privilege, a testament to the infinite possibilities that each tiny life brings. Congratulations to Leidy and Yuberth and their newest family addition, baby Alisson, as our New Year’s baby.”

Sanpete Valley Hospital, serving the community since 1984, is a 25-bed facility that continues to play a crucial role in delivering exceptional healthcare. In 2023, approximately 136 babies were born at Sanpete Valley Hospital, each welcomed with care and expertise.

To commemorate this special occasion, the new parents were presented with a prize basket from Intermountain Healthcare, celebrating the New Year’s birth at Sanpete Valley Hospital. The basket included generous donations from three Utah-based baby product vendors: Minky Couture, Loulou and Company, and Over the Moon. Additionally, the mom and baby received gifts from various donors within the community.

As Alisson Sophie Moreno Carreno takes her first breaths in 2024, the Sanpete Valley community extends its warmest wishes to the Moreno Carrero family for a future filled with love, joy, and countless precious moments.
