Iconic ‘Bar D Wranglers’ to return to Casino Star Theatre
Sanpete County residents and Western music fans can look forward to a lively evening of harmony, humor, and cowboy spirit as the iconic Bar D Wranglers return to the historic Casino Star Theatre on Thursday, Nov. 7. Known for their blend of Western music and playful comedy, the Wranglers will perform two shows, scheduled for 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., bringing the classic charm and sounds of the American West to Gunnison once again.
This year’s performance is especially significant as it marks the 55th anniversary of the Bar D Wranglers, a Durango, Colorado-based group that has captivated audiences since 1969. The Wranglers have become a staple of Western entertainment, performing everywhere from their home stage at the Bar-D Chuckwagon to prestigious venues like the Grand Ole Opry and Carnegie Hall.
Audience members can expect a lineup of Western classics and crowd favorites along with a special tribute to veterans in honor of Veterans Day. This year’s Wranglers include some remarkable talents: Gary Cook, a two-time national flat-picking champion; Matt Palmer, a seasoned fiddler and baritone vocalist; David Bradley, lead vocalist and acclaimed yodeler; and Joel Racheff, who brings energy and comic relief with his tenor harmonies and upright bass.
For those wanting to make an evening of it, The Main Event will host an “American BBQ Picnic Buffet” at The BLDG 178, located just south of the theater, from 5:30 p.m. Priced at $19 per person, the buffet promises classic barbecue fare, with reservations required by Nov. 4.
Tickets are on sale now, with prices set at $25 for premier seats and $20 for classic seats at the 4 p.m. show, and $30 for premier and $25 for classic at the 7:30 p.m. show. Tickets can be purchased at casinostartheatre.com, the theater’s box office, or by calling 435-979-9235.
Following the Bar D Wranglers, the Casino Star Theatre’s 20th Anniversary season will continue with a performance by Kurt Bestor on Dec. 17 and a family-friendly musical, “Pa’akai We Bring,” by the Honolulu Theatre for Youth on Jan. 25.
As a cultural cornerstone since 1913, the Casino Star Theatre remains committed to offering high-quality entertainment and preserving its historic charm for the Gunnison Valley community. The Live Performance Series is made possible by local sponsors and additional support from Creative West and the National Endowment for the Arts.
So, mark your calendars and join the Bar D Wranglers on Nov. 7 for an unforgettable celebration of the spirit of the Old West.
