Fans of the legendary Man in Black are in for a treat this Valentine’s Day as “Cash’d Out: The Next Best Thing to Johnny Cash” takes the stage at the historic Casino Star Theatre in Gunnison. The Las Vegas-based band will perform live on Friday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m., delivering an unforgettable night of music honoring Johnny Cash’s enduring legacy.
More than just a tribute band, “Cash’d Out” has earned national recognition for their uncanny ability to recreate the sound, spirit, and passion of Johnny Cash’s greatest hits. Lead singer Douglas Benson captures Cash’s iconic voice and stage presence, while Kimberly Butcher brings June Carter’s harmonies to life. The talented lineup also includes Eugene Altobella on drums, Jason Corwin on stand-up bass, and Archie Vowell on lead guitar.
For nearly 20 years, “Cash’d Out” has toured across the country, receiving praise from fans and those closest to Johnny Cash himself. Bill Miller, owner of JohnnyCash.com, commented, “Some people are impressionists. These guys leave an impression.” Cindy Cash, Johnny’s daughter, was so moved by Benson’s performance that she gifted him a glass locket that once belonged to her father. Even Johnny Cash’s longtime manager, Lou Robin, has attended multiple “Cash’d Out” shows, saying that closing his eyes felt like stepping back in time.
From the raw recordings at Sun Records to the energy of Cash’s famous prison concerts, “Cash’d Out” captures every era of his music with hauntingly accurate vocals and electrifying performances. Their shows transport audiences to a time when Johnny Cash’s music shaped a generation.
Tickets are priced at $30 for Prime seating and $25 for Classic seating and can be purchased at https://casinostartheatre.com, at the box office, or by calling 435-979-9235.
