Ice fishing tournaments offer winter fun and prizes across Utah

By Staff | Jan 1, 2025

If you want to add an extra challenge to your ice fishing this winter, a tournament may be just the thing. Plus, you can help many of Utah’s fisheries by harvesting overabundant fish and also have the opportunity to win prizes!

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s 2025 ice fishing season promises excitement and competition with several tournaments scheduled from January through March. These events, hosted by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and Utah State Parks, not only offer cash prizes and awards but also help maintain healthy fish populations across the state.

Anglers aged 12 and older must have a valid Utah fishing license to participate, and those attending events at state parks will need to pay entrance fees. Safety is also a top priority, and participants are encouraged to review ice safety tips on the Utah State Parks website before heading out.
