Sanpete girls wrestling finishes Union Tournament with 6 podium finishes.

The North Sanpete and Manti girls wrestling programs started 2025 with strong performances at the Cougar Mat Classic hosted by Union High School. Both teams faced tough competition and emerged with six podium finishes, showcasing their growth and determination.

Manti’s Danny Castro led the way with a first-place finish, while teammate Summer Rowley claimed second place. Third-place finishes went to Hannah Perry (North Sanpete) and Keely Hansen (Manti). Kynnedy Cartright (North Sanpete) and Holly Rowley (Manti) rounded out the podium with fourth- and fifth-place finishes, respectively.

North Sanpete freshman Taylie McQuivey, who was ineligible to compete during the first half of the season, celebrated her first two career victories. McQuivey’s early success highlights her resilience and dedication.

Manti Head Coach Heather Rowley praised the team’s work ethic and focus:

“The combined team of Manti and North Sanpete have worked so hard! Their efforts are paying off as they make personal wins each match. Their experiences are helping them on and off the mat.”

North Sanpete Coach Jim Booher echoed Rowley’s sentiments, highlighting the wrestlers’ development:

“It is great to see how much these young women have grown as wrestlers. They have proven they can compete at a high level. We can’t wait to see them at Region and State.”
