MANTI — Intermountain Health Sanpete Valley Hospital celebrated the arrival of its first baby of the new year on Jan. 2, 2025. Kai Brody Sorensen was born at 2:41 p.m., weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 19 inches long. He is the son of Jordan and Kaitlyn Sorensen of Manti, Utah, and the little brother of Crew.

“I can’t think of a more perfect way to start off the new year than adding this sweet boy to our family,” said Kai’s father, Jordan Sorensen.

Kai’s arrival was met with excitement and joy from the hospital’s staff. “Bringing new life into the world is always a miracle – but delivering the first baby of the new year is a special honor. We look forward to Kaitlyn and Jordan having many more joyous beginnings,” said Dr. Eric Jones, DO, who assisted with the delivery.

Suzy Zahler, the hospital’s nurse manager for women and newborn services, shared the team’s excitement. “It’s always exciting to welcome our first baby of the year,” Zahler said. “It was even more special this year to have one of our own labor and delivery nurses be the one who delivered the hospital’s New Year’s baby.”

Sanpete Valley Hospital, an 18-bed facility, has served the Sanpete County area since 1949. Approximately 135 babies were born at the hospital in 2024, continuing its proud tradition of providing quality maternity care.

To celebrate the special occasion, Intermountain Health presented the Sorensen family with a gift basket featuring items from Utah-based baby product vendors, including Minky Couture, Loulou and Company, and Over the Moon.

The Sorensen family expressed their gratitude for the care they received and looks forward to watching Kai grow. Congratulations to Jordan, Kaitlyn, and big brother Crew on their newest addition!
