Tim Tingey named vice president for finance and administrative services at Snow College

Tim Tingey
Snow College has announced the appointment of Tim Tingey as the new vice president for finance and administrative services. With over 25 years of experience in education, government, and nonprofit organizations, Tingey brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the institution.
Currently serving as a full-time professor in the division of public affairs at the University of Utah, Tingey expressed his enthusiasm for joining Snow College. “I am so grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve on the administrative team at Snow College. I look forward to working with President McIff and colleagues across campus to achieve institutional goals and objectives and enhance student learning. Snow College is such an amazing place, and I look forward to being a part of the institution and communities it serves.”
Tingey holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Utah State University, a Master of public administration, and a doctorate in political science from Idaho State University. His career includes significant roles in both academia and city administration. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at Idaho State University and the University of Utah and has held key leadership positions, including six years as the city manager and chief executive officer for Cottonwood Heights City. In this role, he oversaw all executive and administrative functions of the community. Prior to that, he worked as the director of administrative and development services for Murray City Corporation, managing seven divisions and serving as the executive director for the Redevelopment Agency of Murray. His experience also includes eleven years working for the city of Pocatello in economic development, planning, and grant administration.
Snow College President Stacee Y. McIff expressed confidence in Tingey’s ability to lead the finance and administrative services team. “We are excited to welcome Tim to Snow College! We are committed to effective, efficient practices that help students and employees succeed, and Tim has the experience we need to lead our finance and administrative services team. He is smart, professional, and kind, and I have confidence that he will help us navigate the critical strategic and financial decisions that shape the college’s future.”
Tingey and his wife, Gail, are proud parents of four children and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of three more grandchildren to join their growing family. Originally from Carey, Idaho, Tingey looks forward to returning to a rural setting and becoming a part of the Snow College community.
Tingey’s appointment follows a nationwide search that attracted candidates from across the country. A selection committee carefully reviewed applications and recommended finalists before college leadership made the final decision. Tingey will officially assume his role in April, following the departure of Carson Howell, who recently accepted a similar position at Southern Oregon University. In the interim, Jacob Dettinger will serve as the college’s Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services.
