The Snow College Fine Arts Division and Eccles Center for the Performing Arts are kicking off an exciting fall season packed with concerts, theatre, art exhibitions, and improv comedy. From inspiring faculty performances to side-splitting comedy nights, the schedule offers something for everyone in the community.
September highlights
The season opens with the Faculty Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 in the Eccles Center Jorgensen Concert Hall. Snow’s talented music faculty — Trent Hanna, Sarah Morrow, Brian Stucki and Madeline LeBaron — will perform a variety of works in an evening full of artistry and inspiration. Admission is free.
On Sept. 30, the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band take the stage under the direction of professor Chris Nelson. Their concert, “Far From Here,” will transport audiences around the globe with music inspired by cultures from Cuba to Japan, Ireland to Germany. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors.
Also in September, audiences can enjoy Badgers in a Bathtub — Snow’s high-energy improv troupe. Formerly known as L.T.I., the group creates hilarious scenes on the spot based on audience suggestions. Shows run Sept. 5, 12, and 19 at 8 p.m. in the Eccles Center Black Box. Tickets are just $1 at the door.
October performances
The month begins with a Trent Hanna concert on Oct. 2, followed by a choir concert on Oct. 10. Theater takes the spotlight Oct. 23-25 and Oct. 30-31 with performances of Puffs, a comedy play full of charm and wit. Other highlights include String-a-Palooza on Oct. 27 and the Jazz Big Band with Spotlight Concert on Oct. 28.
Art exhibits
The Snow College Art Gallery is currently featuring a solo exhibition by acclaimed painter Ron Richmond. Known for his symbolic oil paintings, Richmond explores themes of order and chaos, spirituality, and redemption. His exhibition runs Sept. 2-Oct. 15 in the Humanities Building, with a special artist reception on Sept. 19. Admission is free.
Supporting the arts
A portion of ticket sales goes toward scholarships for performing arts students at Snow College. Additional donation opportunities are available to support dance, music, and theatre programs.
