GUNNISON — Single adults ages 35 and older from across central Utah are invited to enjoy an evening of good food, music, and friendship at a regional senior singles dinner and social on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026.

Hosted by the Gunnison and Salina Stakes of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the event will begin at 6 p.m. at the west pavilion in Gunnison City Park. The gathering is open to single adults from throughout the Utah Manti Area, including the Mt. Pleasant, Moroni, Manti, Gunnison, Salina and Richfield Stakes.

Organizers say the evening is designed to provide an opportunity for senior singles to reconnect with old friends, make new acquaintances, and enjoy a relaxed evening of fellowship and entertainment.

Members of the Gunnison Stake High Council and the Stake Relief Society Presidency will prepare and serve a hearty dinner featuring fried chicken with all the trimmings.

Following dinner, attendees will be entertained by The Wacky Winders, a family musical group led by John Winder of Sandy. The group will perform a lively selection of popular hits from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, with audience participation encouraged during many of the familiar songs.

Winder’s musical roots stretch back to his childhood in California’s San Fernando Valley, where his mother, the late Jeanne Carlston Winder–who was originally from Ephraim–taught him to sing harmony. She introduced him to music by purchasing him a ukulele and encouraging piano lessons.

His lifelong passion for music continued through high school choir and later with the Brigham Young University A Cappella Choir, which toured internationally in 1968 and captured first place in a prestigious competition in Wales. Throughout the years, Winder has also performed with several well-known groups, including the John MacRay Trio, The Ray St. John Trio, Rockin’ Robb, The Hound Dogs and the Happy Together Band.

Organizers encourage all eligible single adults to mark their calendars and attend the regional gathering, which promises an evening filled with great food, familiar music, laughter and meaningful conversation.

With Utah’s monsoon season underway, organizers are also hoping for pleasant weather to make the evening even more enjoyable.

For senior singles looking to expand friendships while enjoying an evening of entertainment, the Aug. 13 social offers a welcoming opportunity to gather with others from communities throughout the region.
