GUNNISON, Utah — Cowboy songs, close harmonies, lively instrumentals and plenty of Western humor will return to the historic Casino Star Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 7, when the Bar D Wranglers make their return to Gunnison for two performances.
The popular Durango, Colorado, group will take the stage at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. An optional brisket buffet, prepared by Hidden Oak BBQ, will also be available at 5:45 p.m. at The Bldg. 178.
The Bar D Wranglers have entertained audiences for more than five decades from their home stage at the Bar D Chuckwagon near Durango, where they perform most summer evenings. Their shows combine traditional Western music, tight vocal harmonies, instrumental performances and good-natured cowboy comedy.
Over the years, the group has performed at some of the country’s most recognized venues, including the Grand Ole Opry and Carnegie Hall.
The five-member group features a lineup of accomplished musicians. Gary Cook, lead guitarist and harmony singer, is a two-time national flatpicking champion and a member of the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame. Matt Palmer performs fiddle and baritone, while Joel Racheff plays upright bass. Jeff Johnson rounds out the instrumental lineup with rhythm guitar, banjo and fiddle.
The newest member of the group is Hayley Victor, a country singer-songwriter from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Victor was a finalist on the 2025 season of “American Idol” and brings her talents on guitar and vocals, along with yodeling, to the Wranglers’ performances.
Tickets for the 4 p.m. matinee are $25 for Classic seating and $30 for Premiere seating. Evening performance tickets are $32 for Classic and $37 for Premiere seating.
Those wishing to make an evening of the event can also reserve the optional Hidden Oak BBQ brisket dinner for $26 per person. The meal includes sides and dessert and will be served at 5:45 p.m.
Concert and dinner reservations are available at casinostartheatre.com.
The November performances are part of the Casino Star Theatre Foundation’s 22nd live entertainment season. The season opened in October with a performance by Lacy J. Dalton and will continue Dec. 15 with musician Kurt Bestor.
Originally opened in 1913 as a movie house and vaudeville auditorium, the Casino Star Theatre has remained an important entertainment venue for Gunnison and surrounding Central Utah communities. Today, the historic theatre continues to offer movies, concerts and live performances.
Established in 2004, the Casino Star Theatre Foundation presents concerts and films while also supporting arts education and public art projects throughout the valley. The foundation works to provide residents with opportunities to experience the arts and participate in community cultural activities.
The foundation’s 22nd live season is made possible through support from Roland Christensen; Dr. Richard Nay; Jim and Suzanne Sanders; Central Valley Medical Center; CentraCom; Golden Drug; and Mountain Country Foods. Additional support comes from Bevan and Gay Bastian, State Bank of Southern Utah, the Mormon Pioneer National Heritage Area, the Utah Department of Cultural and Community Engagement, the Utah Office of Tourism, and Creative West, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
