The free, interactive challenge begins Aug. 1, several weeks before the Sanpete County Fair opens, giving participants plenty of opportunities to complete outdoor activities, earn points and compete for prizes.

Organizers encourage participants to get started early. New challenges will be released throughout the game, and many of the activities can only be completed before the fair begins. The earlier teams start, the more opportunities they will have to accumulate points.

The GooseChase Challenge runs from Aug. 1 through Sept. 6, 2026.

The challenge is designed to get people out and about while exploring Sanpete County through fun and active outdoor activities. Challenges are worth varying amounts of points, meaning that every activity can help a team move closer to the prize drawings.

Participants who earn 45,000 or more points will be entered into the drawing for the Grand Prize.

Those who earn 30,000 or more points will be eligible for the Second Place Prize drawing.

Teams can be any size, making the challenge an opportunity for families, groups of friends, neighbors or other teams to participate together.

There is one important limitation: participation is limited to 50 teams, so those interested are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.

How to join

Getting started is free and only takes a few steps.

Participants should first download the GooseChase app, which is available at no cost on both iOS and Android devices. After logging in or creating a free account, search for the experience “Sanpete County Fair Challenge 2026.”

Participants will then enter the Join Code 134NGU and choose whether to join an existing team or create a new one. Teams can add a team name and photo before tapping Save to complete registration.

Once registered, teams can begin completing challenges and accumulating points.

The GooseChase Challenge offers a different way for residents to experience Sanpete County while building anticipation for the annual fair. Rather than waiting until fair week to participate, residents can begin exploring the county and completing activities starting Aug. 1.

Because additional challenges will be released throughout the game, participants are encouraged to check the app regularly and keep working throughout the challenge period.

The challenge will continue through Sept. 6, giving teams more than a month to earn points and reach the prize thresholds.

Prize winners will be announced following the fair. Participants can follow the Sanpete County Fair on social media for announcements and updates, including information about the winners.
