Annual Mormon Miracle Pageant begins June 19

For an exciting evening under a canopy of stars, join the crowd at the foot of the magnificent Manti LDS Temple to watch the Mormon Miracle Pageant. The pageant’s three intertwined stories of the restoration of the gospel, witness of the Book of Mormon and journey of the faithful pioneers to the beautiful Sanpete Valley, demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ for all people. Performances run June 19 through 28. except Sunday and Monday. The pageant begins at 9:30 p.m., and is free of charge. Some visitors begin arriving early in the day even though performances of the annual Mormon Miracle Pageant, with a cast of 100s, doesn’t start until evening.

Manti will become a bustling arena of food and activities as people from all over the world come to watch the dances, hear the stories and for a few hours, feel the emotions of events of the Mormon Miracle.

Some of the people involved say the miracle takes place each year when in a two-and one-half week time frame directors, costumers, technical crews and actors come together to put on an exquisite production of pageantry.

Each year performers have to receive costumes, learn blocking and cues, work with lighting and sound crews, learn choreography and present it all on the slope of temple hill.

No food or drink is allowed on the temple grounds. Gates open at 6 p.m., and seating is first-come, first-serve. Approximately 14,000 chairs are set up. Personal chairs may be set up outside the seating area but are not permitted on the temple grounds. Blankets may be used over chairs for warmth and comfort but are not allowed in the isles of the seating area. Strollers are discouraged.

The pageant and LDS Church assumes no responsibility for personal items left or lost in seating area. It is recommended that visitors bring coats, blankets or other warm items as the weather turns cold after sundown.

Special needs: Handicapped, signing, closed-captioned, Spanish soundtrack and other language seating are available. Ask an usher to assist in situating wheelchairs.

Public restroom facilities are located to the west of pageant seating behind Beehive Distribution and to the southeast of the seating area. Handicap restrooms are in the back of Beehive Distribution.

Water fountains are provided south and also west of seating area and behind Beehive Distribution. Lost and Found is northwest of the seating area at the Family History Building. Call (435) 835-9685 for additional information.

LDS Sunday Services are held at 9 and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., at the Manti LDS Tabernacle, 100 South Main and 9 and 9:30 a.m., 1 and 1:30 p.m., at the LDS Stake Center, 300 South Main.

The Manti LDS Temple opens during pageant at 7:30 a.m. However, there will not be any sessions after 3:30 p.m. No baptisms for the dead will be performed unless previously arranged.

Turkey dinner will be served from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Manti LDS Tabernacle every night of the pageant; and at the Manti LDS Stake Center Thursday-Saturday of both weeks. Identical menus are served at each location and include barbecued turkey, whipped potatoes with gravy, green beans, tossed salad, rolls and cake. There is a cost of the meal for adults and for children. Reservations are not needed.

Dinners are hosted by the Manti Improvement Business Association. (No credit cards are accepted) Breakfast is served only on Friday and Saturday mornings of the pageant. The breakfasts are sponsored by LDS youth groups and include the following: ham, eggs, pancakes, syrup, butter, juice or milk. Breakfast is served from 7 to 10 a.m., at the Manti LDS Tabernacle and the Manti City Park, east pavilion, 100 North 300 West. There is a cost of the breakfast. Tickets are not required.
