Fairview Museum of History and Art summer events

By Staff | May 21, 2014

There’s nothing boring about the new and exciting events taking place at the Fairview Museum of History and Art. The outside exhibits are being upgraded and identified with the help of local citizens. Picnic areas are being enlarged.

The Heritage Building, which houses one of the largest pioneer artifact exhibits in the state, is getting a face lift as “new” old stuff is appearing and being displayed with the portraits of ancestors in a more organized fashion.

The Research Library holds amazing collections of North Sanpete histories and records and the Gift Shop is even bigger and better, offering handmade items along with unique gifts and a fun children’s section. The Outreach Program has formed an alliance with Fairview Elementary School and community to provide a classroom in the Horizon Building’s basement to offer art and soon other fine arts and science classes for children. New exhibits are popping up, with the Sanpete Artists’ Rotating Gallery. Don’t miss Lace Days Monday through Wednesday, July 14-16. Non-participants are welcome to observe. Classes will be held July 14, from 9 a.m. until Noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Lunch at noon is potluck. July 15, from 9 to Noon and 2 to 5 p.m. There is a small cost for lunch and July 16, from 9 a.m. to Noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Lunch is up to each participant.

Participants must have a basic knowledge of lacing and classes include bobbin and special lace projects.

The Pioneer Day July 24th celebration will take place on much of the museum grounds. Admission to the museum is free, and is open daily, except Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Starting at $4.32/week.
