Fairview Pioneer Days extends from July 10-24

Prepare now for the 33rd Annual Demolition Derby in Fairview. Purchase tickets Saturday, June 24, starting at 9 a.m., at the rodeo grounds, 350 South 85 East. Every person attending the event, including babies in arms, is required to have a ticket.

This year each ticket buyer is allowed to purchase a maximum of 10 tickets only. Tickets left after June 24, will be sold July 11, 12, and 19, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at Fairview City Hall, 85 South State. For information about bundled ticket packets containing tickets to all the events call (435) 427-3858.

No outside food or drink, no coolers and no smoking is allowed inside the arena or seating areas during any of the events.

Fairview is the largest town in the northeast end of the Sanpete Valley and is located at the junction of the San Pitch River and Cottonwood Creek. Like most of the towns in Sanpete County, Fairview has a rich architectural legacy.

In addition to the annual demolition derby, there are several other activities that take place this week including Lace Days, sports tournaments, ATV rodeo, kids rodeo, horse parade, ATV drive for food, fireworks, fireside, Fun Run, craft fair, EMT Barbecue, vintage car show, art walk, and Fairview Idol. Just to name a few.

The annual Lace Days starts things off from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., July 10-12, in the Fairview Museum of History and Art, 84 North 100 East. Visitors are encouraged to come and watch as intricate patterns are created with lace. Participants should have a basic knowledge of lacing.

The North Bend Entertainers will be presenting a live action play in the Peterson Dance Hall, 65 South State. Visit http://www.nbentertainers.org for show and times of the live action.

Several activities take place at the Sports Park, which is located south of the rodeo arena at 500 South 85 East.

At the Sports Park on Friday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m., all night sand volleyball will begin. Also in the Sports Park at 6 p.m., there will be a horseshoe tournament.

July 15, early in the morning at 7 a.m., the annual softball tournament will start at the Fairview City Ball Park, 100 North 200 West. At 7:30 a.m., the annual golf tournament will begin at the Skyline Mountain Resort, approximately 2.5 miles east and south of Fairview on the Mountainville Highway. On Tuesday, July 18, at 7 p.m., the fun, kid’s activities and icebreaker will take place at the Fairview City Ball Park, 100 North 200 West.

The ATV Rodeo will take place Wednesday, July 19, 7 p.m., in the rodeo arena, south end of town. Participants must register one hour early. Tickets to watch can be purchased at the gate.

On Thursday, July 20, at 3 p.m., the First Ever Utah’s Beauty and Heritage Art Walk will begin at the Fairview Museum of History and Art. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held followed by a special speaker and open house reception till 6 p.m.

The Utah’s Beauty and Heritage Art Walk will showcase artists through Aug. 25. Local artists combined with others from all over the state will have art on display, some of which will be for sale.

Also on July 20, the Kids Rodeo comes to the big arena at 7 p.m. Participants must register one hour early. Tickets to watch can be purchased at the gate.

On Friday, July 21, the horse parade on Main Street starts at 6 p.m. It will be followed, at 7:30 p.m., by the main event rodeo in the arena. Tickets to watch can be purchased at the gate.

Saturday, July 22, features the 4th Annual OHV Ride for food. Meet at Skyline Motor Sports, one mile south of Fairview. Registration at 7:30 a.m. Ride starts at 8:30 a.m. Register on-line at http://www.sanpetepantry.com/drive4food.

Later the same day, don’t forget to attend the 33rd Annual Pioneer Days Demolition Derby. All the action and fun begins at 7 p.m. If you don’t have tickets by then, they may not be available. Fireworks will follow the Demolition Derby about 10 p.m.

Sunday, July 23, in the evening there will be a special fireside presented by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers at 6:30 p.m., in the Fairview Second-Third LDS Ward (rock church), 131 East 100 North.

Monday begins with a blast. Hope everyone is awake already when the fireman’s wake-up happens at 6 a.m., on July 24. Then at 6:30 a.m., that morning, the annual Fun Run, 5k will begin.

Then, at 7 a.m., attend the flag ceremony at Fairview City Hall along with the Fireman’s Breakfast in the pavilion east of city hall.

At 10 a.m., the craft fair and boutique will take place on Center Street. Then on State Street at 10:15 a.m., the kid’s motorized parade begins followed by the kid’s walking parade at 10:30 a.m. The big time Pioneer Days parade begins at 11 a.m.

Be sure to head back over to the pavilion behind city hall at noon, for the annual EMT Barbecue.

One O’clock is a magic number this year and visitors can choose what to visit and see at that time. For instance, from 1-4 p.m., there will be a free Vintage Car Show at the Fairview Museum of History and Art, 85 North 100 East.

Also beginning at 1 p.m., there will be old fashioned games for all kids at Iven R. Cox Park, east of city hall, and the Fairview Idol talent show begins in the Peterson Dance Hall, 65 South State.

To conclude all the events for the day of July 24, participate in a fun game of Scrambalooza, 5 p.m., at the sports park.
