During the fun and games, at 1 p.m., the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP) will have a museum grand opening of the Old School Daughters of Utah Pioneers museum room located within the newly restored Old School Community Center, 45 South 100 East, Spring City.

The Canal Creek and the Horseshoe Camps purchased the old Elementary School four decades ago in May 1977 to preserve the historic building and to use it as a DUP museum and meeting room for the Camps.

Heritage Day and the Spring City Historic Tour began in 1984 to raise money for this project along with city-wide yard sales, bake sales and quilt raffles. It soon became a community effort with many volunteer hours to restore the building.

Spring City later purchased the building from the DUP and now the restoration of the school is complete.

Later in the evening in the city park the annual Saga of Spring City presentation will take place at 7 p.m.

Visitors should plan to come back to Spring City in August for the Bluegrass and Folk Festival which takes place the weekend of August 4-5, at the Old School Community Center and city park, 100 East 50 South.
