Independence Day brings fun to Moroni June 29-July 4

Moroni hosts a full slate of activities this year during their annual 4th of July Celebration. Prepare now for the famous BBQ turkey dinner and the annual ping pong ball drop from an airplane overhead along the parade route.

June 29

On Saturday, June 29, the annual Turkey Slam Co-Ed Softball Tournament will be held again this year. Teams or individuals who want to be on a team can register by visiting Moroni City Hall, 80 South 200 West, or calling (435) 436-8359.

July 1

Monday, July 1, the Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament will get underway. Teams or individuals who want to be on a team can register by visiting Moroni City Hall, 80 South 200 West, or calling (435) 436-8359.

July 3

On Wednesday, July 3, at 5:30, the famous BBQ Turkey Dinner and Classic Car Show will take place at the City Hall Park, 80 South 200 West. To enter a vehicle in the car show or for more information, send email to julianneWlarson86@gmail.com.

July 4

The day starts at 6 a.m., with the 5K Fun Run and Youth 1 Mile Run. To register visit Moroni City Hall at 80 South 200 West, (next door to City Hall Park) or call (435) 436-8359.

From 7 to 9 a.m., the Fireman’s breakfast will be served with the flag ceremony at 8 a.m., both at the City Hall Park.

At 9:45 a.m., the famous ping pong drop will take place along the parade route. Those who catch a ball can turn it in and hundreds of prizes will be awarded. At 10:45 a.m., the annual carnival will be held at the Center Street Ball Park (across from the Activity Center), 200 North Center Street. The carnival will have fun games with prizes, bounce houses and water fun. The famous turkey sandwiches will be available.

At 11:30 a.m., relay races will also take place at the Center Street Ball Park followed by the Basketball Shootout at 12 noon in the activity center, 231 North Center, at Noon.

From 7:30 — 10 p.m., the Pre-Fireworks Show will be held at the Center Street Ball Park. Enjoy great entertainment along with food for sale.

The finality of the day’s activities will be the spectacular Fireworks Show at 10 p.m., presented by Fire Chief Paul Anderson and his crew of the Moroni Fire Department.
