Utah Valley men’s basketball sets preseason schedule
Utah Valley head coach Mark Madsen has released the 2021-22 men’s basketball schedule, which features non-conference games against Boise State, Pepperdine, Denver, BYU, Wyoming, and Washington.
“We always want to play a tough and challenging schedule against some of the best teams in the country and our staff has accomplished that with this season’s schedule,” said Utah Valley head coach Mark Madsen. “We will be tested as we will play two to three potential top-25 teams. We have some great home games at the UCCU Center, including Denver and BYU.”
Utah Valley will play five of its first six games on the road, including four in California. After opening the season at Boise State on Nov. 9, Utah Valley will return to Orem to host Antelope Valley on Nov. 12 in the team’s home opener. The Wolverines will then play four straight games in the Golden State as the team will play at Pepperdine on Nov. 15 and at Long Beach State on Nov. 17.
The Wolverines will continue play in California as the team will compete in the SoCal Challenge at JSerra Pavilion in San Juan Capistrano. The multi-team event will feature games against Idaho on Nov. 22 and a game against either Nicholls State or Cal Poly on Nov. 24.
Utah Valley will then return to Orem to host a pair of home games against Denver on Nov. 27 and versus BYU in a UCCU Crosstown Clash game on Dec. 1. The Wolverines will take on BYU for the fifth time in team history and just the second time at the UCCU Center.
UVU will continue non-conference play against Southern Utah in Cedar City on Dec. 8 and then at Wyoming on Dec. 11. The team will return to Orem to host Bethesda on Dec. 17 before wrapping up non-league play at Washington on Dec. 21 in Seattle. The game at Washington will mark Utah Valley’s first-ever matchup against the Huskies.
The Utah Valley University men’s basketball team has announced that it will be competing in the inaugural SoCal Challenge, which will feature a matchup in Malibu against Pepperdine on Nov. 15 and games in the state-of-the-art JSerra Pavilion in San Juan Capistrano, California on Nov. 22 against Idaho and Nov. 24 against either Cal Poly or Nicholls State.
Utah Valley’s 18-game WAC schedule begins at home on Dec. 30 against league newcomer Abilene Christian. The Wildcats won the Southland Conference tournament title last season and upset No. 3 Texas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
