The BYU women’s soccer team recently completed its spring season, one step in a process of reloading after losing 11 seniors from a team that advanced to the NCAA semifinals.

Another step is the release of a challenging preseason schedule.

“We are really looking forward to the upcoming fall season,” BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. “We have big expectations to play at a high level with big results. Our non-conference schedule will provide tremendous competition, and will help us prepare for Big 12 play. The team looks forward to the challenge of a new conference, and we hope to add to the national presence and success of Big 12 soccer.”

Prior to beginning non-conference play, the Cougars will open the 2024 season with a Blue/White game on South Field (Aug. 3), and two exhibition games, hosting UVU on Aug. 7 and Wyoming on Aug. 9.

BYU’s non-conference schedule consists of three home games and four away contests. The Cougars will host Wisconsin (Aug. 15) before hitting the road for three away matches against St. Louis (Aug. 22), Long Beach State (Aug. 24) and UCLA (Aug. 28). BYU will return home for a pair of matches with Utah State (Aug. 31) and Boise State (Sept. 4), before traveling to Arkansas (Sept. 7) to close out non-conference play.

Five of BYU’s seven preseason opponents earned NCAA Tournament berths in 2023. Wisconsin was 14-5-4 last season and advanced to the second round. St. Louis was 19-3-2 and made it to the Sweet 16 before losing to Penn State. UCLA is a rematch of a 3-1 BYU victory in Provo over the top-ranked Bruins last season. UCLA was 16-2-1 in 2023 and was upset by UC Irvine in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Utah State made its third trip to the NCAA and lost to the Cougars in the first round. Arkansas was 15-5-2 last season, advancing to the second round before losing to No. 7 Pitt.

BYU’s 11-game 2024 Big 12 schedule, which was released on Monday, features six home dates with Arizona State (Sept. 12), Utah (Sept. 23), Oklahoma State (Sept. 26), Iowa State (Sept. 30), Baylor (Oct. 17) and Houston (Oct. 21), and five road matches against TCU (Sept. 19), Arizona (Oct. 4), Kansas (Oct. 10), Kansas State (Oct. 14) and Texas Tech (Oct. 25).
