Valley Top 5: Can anyone dethrone the top teams?

Here’s a look at which high school teams have proven to be the best in Utah Valley in their respective sports so far in 2022:

FOOTBALL

1. Skyridge (6-0)

Five rushing TD’s in 62-6 win vs. Westlake

2. Lehi (6-0)

Pioneers with four shutouts this season

3. Timpview (5-1)

Fr. QB Helaman Casuga 3 TD passes in 42-14 win vs. Alta

4. Lone Peak (4-1)

A bit sloppy but big plays send Knights past PG

5. Springville (5-1)

Next opponent, Wasatch, has scored 118 points in past two games

GIRLS SOCCER

1. Lone Peak (13-0)

The Knights have opened up a two-game lead in Region 4.

2. American Fork (11-2)

The Cavemen are hoping Skyridge can upset Lone Peak just like the Falcons upset AF.

3. Cedar Valley (11-1)

The Aviators finally get a shot at redemption when Stansbury comes to Eagle Mountain on Wednesday.

4. Timpanogos (8-4)

The Timberwolves face the gauntlet this week with games against Lehi and Alta.

5. Maple Mountain (8-4)

The Golden Eagles barely edged Springville for this spot, a team it faces on Thursday.

2. Maple Mountain (11-2)

Golden Eagles have Region 9 showdown with Salem Hills

3. Timpview (6-4)

4. Lone Peak (6-5)

Big test this week at Region 4 leader Corner Canyon

5. Skyridge (9-3)

Gave Lone Peak all it could handle but lost in five sets
