The UVU women's track team won the Western Athletic Conference team title in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, May 16, 2026.ARLINGTON, Texas — Morgan Nokes, Ella Hopper, Aubrey Tasker and Grace Degarimore earned golds to propel Utah Valley to its third straight WAC women’s outdoor track and field title at Maverick Stadium on Saturday.
The Wolverines won the meet with 211 points, beating out Tarleton State at 176 and UT Arlington with 159. On the men’s side, Tarleton State rode a strong final day from its sprinters to pull past Utah Valley with 200 points to the Wolverines’ 177 in third. UT Arlington finished second with 183 points.
“This was a great meet, very competitive from start to finish,” said head coach Scott Houle. “I was really excited with how both our men and women showed up and competed. With the girls, it was a lot of fun today. We started strong and throughout the meet they stepped up and got points we weren’t expecting. The guys had a great meet, but just had a little bit of misfortune and in the end made Tarleton work for it.”
Degarimore earned her second gold in as many days to start things for the Wolverines, breaking the school record in the discus at 52.95m. Degarimore PR’ed by over three meters — her previous best was 49.81m — and surpassed Maryn Pincock’s record of 50.12m set in 2013. Cale Stinebaugh made it 18 points earned from the discus, taking second behind Degarimore with a new personal best of 48.88m that ranks third all-time.
Aubrey Tasker made it a sweep of this season’s high jump titles, winning a tiebreaker at 1.68m over UTA’s Eliza Lemberga, who had more misses in the prior rounds. Tasker took the indoor title earlier this year in Spokane.
Hopper was the top point-getter on the day for the Wolverines, earning gold in the 400-meter hurdles in a landslide, then contributing to both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays, who took bronze and silver respectively. In the 4×1, Hopper was joined by Angelina Appel, Adrian Powell, and Eme Stout, and in the 4×4, teamed up with Gabriele Dabb, Kylie Hadfield, and Bria Anderson.
The Wolverines officially wrapped up the team title with the 5000-meter, as Utah Valley took five of the top eight places. Nokes led the way once again, earning her second title of the meet with a time of 16:18.78. Nokes went 6-for-6 in conference championship races this season, winning the individual cross country title in November; the indoor mile, 3k, and 5k races in February; as well as the outdoor 10k on Thursday.
Behind Nokes, Reagan Doman medaled once again, earning silver after taking bronze in the 10k on Saturday.
The men’s side saw some outstanding individual performances, led by a pair of golds from freshman Sila Kiplagat. Kiplagat did the impressive double of winning both the 1500 meters and 5000 meters, beating out teammate Porter Whitworth in a photo finish in the latter by .05 seconds.
Gavin Stafford won gold in the 100-meter dash, running a wind-aided 10.01 (+5.1) in another photo finish over TSU’s JayBrion Jones. Kade Thompson took fourth in the event, then later medaled in the 200-meter, posting a new personal best of 20.59 to take silver and move up to third all-time.
Matthew Maclennan broke the school record in the 110-meter hurdles — set just two weeks ago by James Duncan at SUU — running the first sub-14 time in program history at 13.93 to take fourth. Maclennan later took seventh in the 400-meter hurdles.
Jayden Fitzgarrald picked up a pair of bronzes, taking third in the 800-meter and 1500-meter. Nick Forsyth closed out the field events with his fourth career medal in the javelin, posting a top throw of 61.34m to take silver.
Utah Valley will now await the finalized results from this weekend’s conference championships across the nation before heading to the NCAA West Regionals in Fayetteville, Ark., on May 27-30. Regional qualifiers will be announced later this week.
UT Arlington wins season baseball finale at UVU
Utah Valley’s Senior Day comeback fell just short on Saturday afternoon at UCCU Ballpark.
Mason Strong hit a three-run homer to make it 11-10 in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough to complete the sweep against UT Arlington. UVU (18-36, 4-14) saw Brody Block record three RBIs and three hits, tying a season high for the senior. Utah Valley hit four home runs as a team, tying a season high. The Wolverines also hit four homers against Utah on Mar. 31 and California Baptist on May 1.
In his final start for the Wolverines, senior right-hander Colton Kennedy finished with 4 1/3 innings pitched and two strikeouts on 88 pitches. He leaves the UVU program ranked in the top five in career strikeouts.
Utah Valley scored first in the bottom of the second inning on a solo home run from senior Mason Hamlin, his fifth of the year. The Mavericks jumped in front in the top of the third on a three-run homer from Xander McAfee before the Wolverines answered in the bottom half. Jimmy De Anda doubled to open the inning and advanced to third on a fly ball before scoring on a single from Block to make it 3-2.
UVU later loaded the bases after Kaden Carpenter was hit by a pitch and Chipper Beck walked. The Wolverines tied the game on a walk to Strong before regaining the lead on Trenton Rowan’s sacrifice fly that scored Carpenter.
After UTA tied the game in the top of the fourth, the Wolverines answered with their second three-run inning of the afternoon. The rally started with a walk to De Anda before Block launched his fourth home run of the season to put Utah Valley back in front. Carpenter followed with a solo home run on a 2-0 pitch to extend the lead to 7-4. He finished the season with home runs in four straight games.
UTA rallied by scoring in five consecutive innings, including a four-run fifth inning to take the lead. Preston Knott later homered to extend the Mavericks’ advantage to 10-7 in the late innings.
George Albrecht tossed two innings of relief for UVU and allowed two runs while giving Utah Valley a chance at a late comeback.
After the late-game heroics from Hamlin in Friday night’s series-clinching win, the Wolverines looked for another comeback victory. Block led off the ninth with a walk before Carpenter singled to put two runners on base. Strong then homered in his final collegiate at-bat with a three-run shot to right-center field to make it 11-10.
The comeback fell short in the finale, marking the final game UVU will compete in as a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Following the game, the Wolverines honored 18 seniors who suited up for the green and white. During the 2023-26 span, the Wolverines made two WAC Championship appearances, advanced to the program’s second NCAA Tournament, and earned the first postseason victory in program history. Utah Valley will begin the 2027 season in February and will compete in its first year as a member of Big West Conference.
