Human remains were found in the mountains above Springville over the weekend. A horseback rider found the remains Saturday and called 911 Saturday night after reaching cell service, the Utah County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Sheriff's deputies interviewed the witness Saturday night, and on Sunday morning, authorities hiked to the area and located the remains. "At this time, we have confirmed they are human remains and we are still investigating and processing the scene.
