"Hidden Assets" is streaming now on Acorn TV.

Filmed in Belgium and Ireland, “Hidden Assets” focuses on a mystery that ties together terrorist bombings, murders and seized diamonds. This six-episode first season manages to answer plenty of questions, but leaves viewers waiting for season two for even more.

Irish detective Emer Berry (Angeline Ball) joins forces with Belgian detective Christian De Jong (Wouter Hendrickx) when they discover their individual investigations are actually linked. She is looking into a stash of diamonds and he is looking into a murder and terrorist bombing. But how are they connected?

With plenty of twists and turns, the joint investigation has both of their offices working overtime once they realize another bombing is imminent. Connecting the dots and putting together the puzzle proves to be confusing as new twists enter into the mix. And with every new twist comes new suspects, but their connection doesn’t always seem to be clear-cut.

Berry knows, deep down though, that there is a connection. While she and De Jong investigate, more clues come into view. But with another murder their list of suspects widens. Who could possibly be responsible for this chain of events?

The show keeps viewers waiting for each episode as the plot thickens. Yes, there is something of a resolution at the end, but knowing how the entertainment business works, the finale leaves viewers with more questions in anticipation of a second season. So far, there’s no word on if the show will be renewed or canceled, so any and all viewers will have real-world suspense to go along with the show.

“Hidden Assets” is worth watching, even if there is no season two guaranteed. It is filled with interesting characters, a gripping plot and a lot to think about as viewers put the pieces together along with the fictional detectives.

The entire first season of “Hidden Assets” is now available on Acorn TV, a division of AMC Networks. This subscription channel brings together Australian, British and Irish shows to a global streaming audience.
