Fasten your seat belts for a fun and exhilarating ride when this new drama – with plenty of comedy – hits Prime Video. “Ride or Die” is an explosive tour de force starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham.
Waddingham is Judith Burton, a forensic accountant. Spencer is Debbie Claybourne, the wife and the power behind a British MP on his way to being the next Prime Minister. These women are best friends, but Judith is hiding her true identity. She is a professional assassin.
From the first scene until the last scene in this season, viewers will be gripped by this impressive cast and captivating story. What happens when Debbie finds out the truth about her best friend?
Everything explodes when Judith’s next assignment goes sideways when she goes to the target’s hotel and discovers a massacre, with Debbie’s husband being one of the victims. What was he up to and why is he surrounded by a bunch of Albanian crime syndicate operatives?
Things begin to add up and Judith soon realizes her bestie is in danger. She has to come clean about what is going on to keep Debbie safe. Debbie, being a smart, strong-willed woman, is apprehensive about trusting her. After all, she is an assassin and has lied to her for years. But, as Judith continues to explain, she only kills bad people.
When they realize the extent of Debbie’s husband’s illicit involvement with the Albanians, Judith formulates a plan to resolve it all in order to keep Debbie safe – and alive. They set out on a trek through Europe with Interpol hot on their trail.
The organization that trained and assigns the assassins is headed by The Director (Bill Nighy), who is a very ruthless man. And, as the story plays out, they all discover a dangerous rogue assassin (Sylvia Hoeks) has entered the scene intent on the destruction of the organization and the death of Judith.
This rogue assassin has a long history with Judith. She is devilish and devious.
While Judith’s handler Sam (Calam Lynch) helps her evade death, his allegiance to her and The Director is tested. Ultimately, he wants to do what is right, even if that means going up against The Director.
Take James Bond, add some “Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” mix in a little camp and some “Sex and the City,” and you get “Ride or Die,” with even more entertainment and excitement.
This is a true female buddy story. It is fun, exciting, and addicting. Each of the eight episodes begins with a look back at how they all came to be where they are. Eight episodes are not enough. The final scene teases at a second season, and viewers will be rooting for that.
“Ride or Die” is an intricate story involving interesting characters and plenty of fun, danger, and intrigue. It streams on Prime Video.
