Dogs rule when two favs return to UP Faith and Family

“Hudson & Rex” and “Blue Skies” are back for more episodes on UP Faith and Family. These two shows are family favorites and the new seasons are filled with the same entertainment they consistently bring to viewers.

“Hudson & Rex” is now streaming the eighth season. This popular show starred John Reardon as Detective Charlie Hudson whose partner is the adorable, intuitive, intelligent, and lovable K9 German Shepherd Rex.

Together they managed to solve the crimes of the city, with the assistance of forensics officer Sarah Truong (Mayko Nguyen), tech guru Jesse Mills (Justin Kelly), and the advice of Superintendent Joseph Donovan (Kevin Hanchard). But at the heart of every story is none other than the lovable K-9 Rex.

This season Rex has a new partner, Detective Mark Hudson (Luke Roberts). Reardon is scheduled to return to his role for Season 9 as he has a clean bill of health after an illness which sidelined him for this season.

The detectives are bright and on top of the cases, however it is the lovable Rex who always comes through. No matter what task he is given, he is up for the job.

This police procedural would be interesting in itself, but Rex adds a little extra to the entertainment factor.

There are 14 episodes in this season which streams on UP Faith and Family.

“Blue Skies” returned for a second season on October 1, 2026. The series focuses on former military police officer Jodi Larsen (Scarlet Hunter) and her Labrador partner, Blue. Yet another family series with a canine who captures the hearts of viewers.

Larsen – and Blue – are joined in their investigations by fellow National Parks investigators Alex Meeks (David Lennon) and Nora Esposito (Veronica Long) with the help of Tyson Bernard’s (Darius Willis) tech genius. And since the Sheriff last season was involved in criminal behavior, Ryan Miller (Markian Tarasiuk) takes on his new role as Sheriff with gusto. Hiro Kanagawa joins the cast as Superintendent Clive.

Crystal Ridge National Park is a fictional park with no specific location mentioned in the series, however the license plates are clones of those in Colorado. The series is actually filmed in British Colombia. With the spectacular scenery, however, comes some rather dramatic criminal cases.

There are eight episodes in this season. As of now, there has not been any confirmation if there will be a third season in this popular series.

Both “Hudson & Rex” and “Blue Skies” rely on criminal cases each episode with the human characters solving them but not without the help of their canine partners. These two dogs add to the enjoyment of the shows. Viewers have taken them both to their hearts. UP Faith and Family has discovered that dogs really are man’s and woman’s best friends. With Rex and Blue, these shows are great family entertainment combined with interesting and dramatic storylines. They are not overly tense procedurals. Rather, they are somewhat simple yet enjoyable shows with two adorable canines that always manage to steal the hearts of viewers.

Starting at $4.32/week.
