The full Utah Valley calendar of events is on L4, but here are three local events you should check out this week:
1. Dia de los Muertos 2026
Thanksgiving Point, Lehi, Oct. 24, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
It’s a seasonal celebration to honor tradition and those who have come before at Thanksgiving Point. The venue website says: “Join us for the Latin American holiday Día de los Muertos at Thanksgiving Point! Legend has it that on Día de los Muertos, the dead join us as a part of our community, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with loved ones. The Show Barn will be filled with the sights and sounds of Día de los Muertos, including the most familiar symbol of Día de los Muertos, artful calacas and calaveras (skeletons and skulls), and dancers representing the colorful traditions of Latin American countries performing, along with mariachi bands, singers, and storytellers.”

2. Payson’s Annual Quilt Show 2026
Peteetneet Museum and Cultural Arts Center, Payson, Oct. 21-24, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
It’s been a warm fall so far but the temperatures are cooling and that means it’s time to celebrate the comfort of homemade blankets and quilts. Payson is a great place to do that this week as it hosts its annual quilt show. The event website says: “The Payson Quilt Show is a premier event that brings together quilting enthusiasts from all over to celebrate the rich tradition of quilting craftsmanship. Attendees can enjoy a diverse range of exhibits showcasing stunning quilt displays, innovative designs, and traditional patterns. The event also features trunk shows and demonstrations led by skilled artisans, providing valuable learning opportunities for both beginners and experienced quilters. Visitors are encouraged to participate in the Quilter’s Yard Sale, where they can find incredible deals on fabric, batting, notions, and sewing machines. We also welcome donations of fabric and unfinished projects to support the community and promote sustainable crafting practices.”

The city website says: “Dress up and bring the whole family to find candy at a creepy car show!” Many local locations are also doing city parties (including Provo, Springville, Orem, Highland and others) and paranormal investigations, so check the full calendar for a spooky and/or fun activity near you.
