Harmons Grocery will be the anchor tenant for the 111-acre Salem Central in Salem City located near Loafer Mountain Parkway and S.R. 198, Kreate Development announced Tuesday.
The Harmons will be the second grocery store within city limits, along with Stokes Market. It is the second planned Harmons in Utah Valley south of Orem, after land in Spanish Fork was sold to the Utah-based grocer last year.
“Harmons is widely recognized as Utah’s premier grocery retailer and has built an exceptional reputation for quality, community involvement, and customer experience throughout the state,” Kreate Development owner and co-founder Dave Morton said in a news release. “Its commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with our vision for Salem Central as a place where families can live, gather, shop, and connect. We believe Harmons will become a tremendous asset not only to Salem Central, but to the surrounding communities throughout the region.”
Salem Mayor Cristy Simons called the announcement an “exciting moment for Salem,” and said city staff worked closely with Kreate Development on the project that will “bring high-quality economic opportunities, new amenities, and unique housing options to our community.”
Salem Central will be a residential and commercial development that will include 500 residential units and have businesses beyond the Harmons. The site also plans to offer trails, open space and community gathering places.
