Millions around the world are expected to join Jehovah’s Witnesses on Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17, 2024, for a program entitled “The Resurrection— Victory Over Death!” This event will be followed by the annual observance of the Memorial of Christ’s death on March 24, 2024.

The public is invited to attend the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ annual observance to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ.

“We warmly invite the public locally and worldwide to join us to commemorate Christ’s death and what it means for our future,” said Patrick Terulien, spokesperson for the church, in a news release. “It is the most important annual celebration for us.”

The church has launched a special campaign during the month of March to invite residents of Utah and beyond to attend the annual observance of the Lord’s Evening Meal on March 24, as well as a special public talk entitled “The Resurrection–Victory Over Death!” on Saturday and Sunday at local Kingdom Halls.

Locations and times for both services can be found on the church’s website, jw.org.

“My beloved husband died in December, so I am looking forward to the Memorial of Jesus’ death and the special talk focusing on the resurrection, as these will encourage me to look to the future with hope,” Utahn Cara Brant said in the release, “so I will be paying rapt attention to these Bible-based talks.”

According to a press release issued by the church, while March 24 may pass imperceptibly for many, “Millions around the world will gather at sundown to commemorate the death of Jesus Christ.”

Considered the most important day of the year to members of the church, the memorial is observed annually on Nisan 14, 33 C.E., of the Jewish calendar in adherence to Christ’s statement in the Book of Luke, 22:19, which states, “Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”

According to the church’s website, the religion adheres strictly to the Bible in observance of the Lord’s Evening Meal, also known as the Last Supper. The purpose is to remember Christ and showing gratitude for his sacrifice on behalf of all mankind.

The meeting will start and end with singing and prayer. There is no fee to attend either event. While there is no dress code, the church encourages people to dress modestly and respectfully.
