The second Brigham Young University devotional of the year, held Tuesday in the BYU Marriott Center, featured Neil L. Andersen, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, as the main speaker.

After a short introduction by BYU President Kevin Worthen, Andersen asked one question to the gathered students.

“What are your hopes and plans for your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for the next 50 years?”

Andersen graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in economics before earning his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1977. He was called to the Presidency of the Seventy in 2005 and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 2009.

Andersen based his talk on six main points — living with hope in Jesus Christ,  keeping your spirit open, remembering the restored gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a gift, separating yourself from the world in the temple, diminishing distractions and acknowledging tests in life.

He advised the students that as they followed these principles, their faith would grow and strengthen over the next five decades of their own lives.

“I share with you my sure and certain witness that He lives, that He is resurrected and that He calls to each of us ‘Come unto me.’ He makes eternal life possible,” Andersen said.

Following his graduation from Harvard, Andersen worked in the healthcare, advertising and real estate development industries

Andersen’s devotional is available to stream on BYUtv. Audio recordings and text in most languages are expected later this week.

Starting at $4.32/week.
