The Fountain Green Lions Club proudly unveils the accomplished winners of the International Peace Poster Contest, themed “Dare to Dream,” held locally. Fourteen talented students, ages 11, 12, and 13 years old, from Moroni Elementary and North Sanpete Middle School passionately participated in this annual competition, tasked with visually interpreting what peace signifies to them as they “Dare to Dream.”

Among the entrants, five finalists from the two schools were acknowledged with certificates and cash prizes. Notably, the First Place winner’s artwork will advance to district and state-level competitions. Every participant received a certificate in recognition of their valuable contribution in sharing their visions of peace.

The winner of the First Place award, Jonas Kimball, a seventh grade student from Fairview, and son of Serenity and Abe Kimball, received an award of $50.00. Following closely, Kate Stucki, a seventh grade student at North Sanpete Middle School, daughter of Ann and Brian Stucki of Spring City, secured the Second Place spot, receiving a $35 award.

In an exceptional turn of events, a two-way tie for Third Place was deemed appropriate by the panel of judges. Both Betsey Bradley, a sixth grade student at Moroni Elementary, daughter of Natalie and Stephen Bradley of Moroni, and Carolina Magana, a seventh grade student at North Sanpete Middle School, daughter of Martina Magana and Alvino Medina of Fountain Green, were recognized with the Third Place award, each receiving a prize of $30.

An Honorable Mention and a prize of $25 was presented to Celia Harris, a seventh grade student at North Sanpete Middle School and daughter of Mark Harris of Mt. Pleasant.

The Fountain Green Lions Club, in partnership with Lions International, has been steadfastly supporting the Peace Poster Contest since 1998. This initiative allows students to share their distinctive artistic representations of peace, fostering greater tolerance and understanding. Notably, the International Grand Prize Winner secures US$5,000 and an accompanied trip to the prestigious award ceremony. Additionally, 23 Merit Award Winners are each honored with US $500 and a certificate.

Expressing gratitude, Yvonne Hansen, the Local Peace Poster chairman from Fountain Green, extends appreciation to the schools, teachers, and staff in the region for their invaluable contribution in nurturing peace, one child at a time.

The Fountain Green Lions Club continues to advocate and support the creative expressions of young minds, emphasizing the significance of peace in our society.
