The annual Demolition Derby will be held Friday night at 7 p.m. as part of the 2024 Sanpete County Fair.A carnival, a grand parade, a rodeo, a demolition derby and more will be part of the events happening this weekend as part of the 2024 Sanpete County Fair at the county fairgrounds in Manti.
With the theme “Sanpete Tradition Lives On,” this year’s fair will include all the favorite activities and events Sanpete County residents have grown to love over the fair’s history.
Items crafted and grown by local residents and entered into the Open Class will be featured in the Exhibit Building beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday. These items range from the fine arts, such as watercolor and oil paintings, to crocheted and sewn items, ceramics, quilts, fresh flowers and potted plants, fresh fruits and vegetables, bottled goods and more.
The Exhibit Building will remain open on Friday and Saturday. Visitors can vote for their favorite entries, with those votes determining who will receive the People’s Choice award.
At 4 p.m. Thursday, the Brown’s Amusements carnival will open, and the carnival will continue on Friday and Saturday. Carnival day passes may be purchased for $30 each at sanpetecountyfair.net net and clicking on the “Tickets” tab at the top of the page.
The tickets may be used once for any of the three days of the carnival and must be presented at the fair’s ticket booth to redeem it for the carnival’s pass prior to going to the Brown’s Amusements ticket booth.
On Thursday night, and again on Saturday night, the annual RMPRA Rodeo will fill the fairgrounds arena with exciting rodeo action. Specialty Act Whistle-Nut & Ole is returning to perform at this year’s rodeo, as is rodeo announcer Monroe Magnuson and stock contractor Broken Heart Rodeo Co.
Rodeo tickets may also be purchased online at sanpetecountyfair.net.
Friday’s fair action will include the annual Demolition Derby, with tickets available for this event on the fair website as well. The popular children’s exhibit Fun on the Farm will open Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. and continue on Saturday. At Fun on the Farm, children learn through fun activities about how their food gets from the farm to the table.
Saturday, the final day of the fair, will be filled with activities for all ages ranging from the annual Car Show to the Pie-Eating Contest, local entertainment at the fairgrounds pavilion, the Horse Pulling Competition, the Grand Parade and more.
