A musical journey with Young Artists Chamber Players

YACP, an orchestra comprising high school string players, is a testament to the musical prowess of the best young talents along the Wasatch Front. Founded in 1985 by the esteemed Jack Ashton, a luminary with a 49-year tenure in the Utah Symphony and 35 years of teaching orchestra at Olympus High School, YACP is a beacon of musical excellence.

The concert series is a springtime tradition for YACP, and Spring City is honored to be a part of their annual tour through the scenic landscapes of Utah. The return of YACP to the charming setting of Spring City promises an evening filled with soul-stirring performances and a celebration of musical talent.

A maestro’s legacy: Jack Ashton

Jack Ashton’s illustrious career has left an indelible mark on the Utah Symphony and the realm of music education. A dedicated member of the Utah Symphony for nearly five decades, Ashton’s influence extends beyond the stage. For 35 years, he imparted his wisdom as an orchestra teacher at Olympus High School, shaping the musical journeys of countless students.

Even in retirement, Ashton continues to share his passion for music through private teaching, including mentoring students at Snow College. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians is evident in the excellence of the Young Artists Chamber Players.

An evening of musical splendor: Free to all, donations welcome

The concert, a gift to the community, is open to the public, and admission is free of charge. However, attendees are invited to contribute donations, which will be dedicated to the maintenance of the grand piano generously provided to Spring City by the Bastian Foundation.

As the melodies of YACP resonate through the Community Center’s ballroom, the grand piano, a symbol of artistic generosity, will serve as a backdrop to an evening of cultural enrichment and musical splendor.
