Each week the Daily Herald ranks the Top 5 boys basketball, girls basketball, and boys and girls wrestling teams in Utah Valley.
BOYS BASKETBALL
1. Orem (11-0)
Tigers went 4-0 to win East Idaho Classic.
2. Skyridge (8-2)
Took fourth place in Jam Division at Cactus Jam.
3. Payson (9-0)
Lions open Region 7 play on Tuesday at Maple Mountain.
4. Pleasant Grove (10-2)
McCaden Adams (22.3 ppg) leads Vikings into showdown at Bingham.
5. Lone Peak (7-2)
Knights swept four games at Damien Classic (Calif.) to win Diamond Division.
Girls basketball
1. Lone Peak (8-0)
Kailey Woolston is very tough to slow down, averaging 22.3 points per game.
2. Westlake (12-0)
The Thunder should be unbeaten heading into league play in a couple of weeks.
3. Timpview (7-1)
The Thunderbirds can’t afford to be rusty after two weeks off.
4. Lehi (9-2)
Seniors Jamisyn Heaton and Maci Wall are setting the tone for the Pioneers.
5. Skyridge (7-2)
The Falcons will learn a lot about themselves when they host Herriman on Tuesday.
Boys wrestling
1. Pleasant Grove
Vikings will have four representatives on 6A team at upcoming all-star dual.
2. Payson
Lions will have two 5A representatives and two wrestlers on the wildcard team at the all-star dual.
3. Westlake
Thunder will have two wildcard entries in all-star dual.
4. Wasatch
Wasps have a pair of wildcard wrestlers plus two on the 5A squad at all-star dual.
5. Mountain View
Bruins gear up for second half run.
Girls wrestling
1. Westlake
Dominant Thunder have five grapplers on 6A team at all-star dual.
2. Maple Mountain
5A favorite Golden Eagles will have four wrestlers on the 5A all-star dual team.
3. Springville
Red Devils will have a pair of 5A representatives at the all-star dual.
4. Mountain View
Bruins Esther Han will represent school at the all-star dual event.
5. ALA
Eagle Olivia Carrillo will wrestle for 1A-3A team while brother Lukus will grapple in the boys event for the 3A boys team.
