The Lone Peak football team runs onto the field before a game against Pleasant Grove on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022.Head Coach: Bart Brockbank (8th season)
2022 record: 7-5 overall, 2-3 Region 3
Playoffs: No. 11 seed, lost to No. 3 Bingham 25-19 in 6A quarterfinals
Players to Watch: Sr. RB Brooks Wilde, Sr. DB Matthias Nawahine, Sr. DB Jayden Mayberry, Sr. WR Trey Robinson, Sr. DL Bott Mulitalo, Jr. OL Austin Pay
Outlook: After winning the 2021 6A title, Lone Peak struggled to find consistency in 2022 and saw its season end in the quarterfinals.
The Knights never stay down for long under Bart Brockbank.
“I feel we have a good team with a lot of returning starters on defense,” Brockbank said. “Our defense should lead out and offensive talent will be able to develop.”
Seniors Matthias Nawahine and Jayden Mayberry will be leaders in an excellent secondary and big Bott Mulitalo (6-5, 240) returns on the defensive line. Junior Austin Pay (6-7, 275) is one of the top offensive tackles in the state and will anchor a line opening holes for returning running back Brooks Wilde (585 yards, three TD’s last season). Senior Jackson Blake (6-4, 180) took some snaps last season, throwing for five touchdowns in relief of departed starting quarterback Kaden Hodson. The Knights lost its top two receivers (Cole Christensen and Crew McChesney) to graduation and senior Trey Robinson (6-2, 180) looks to fill one of those roles.
Lone Peak is in an all-Utah County Region 3 with Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Skyridge, Lehi and Westlake. The Knights open the 2023 season against Bingham, the same team that ended the Knights in the 2022 quarterfinals.
Program Hero: “Jeana Pay is our booster president. She handles so much and cares so much. She doesn’t get paid but does an amazing job.” — Bart Brockbank
