Jane Hedengren set her third NCAA record in the 5000-meter invitational, winning the event at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday night at Cougar Stadium.
Bryan Clay Invitational
Only two weeks after setting the NCAA 10,000m record, Hedengren clocked a 14:50.50 to break Florida’s Parker Valby’s previous 5000m record by more than one second. She led from the start and pulled away over the final 2000m. The Provo, Utah native finished more than eight seconds ahead of the field, with BYU alumna and Nike Swoosh TC athlete Lexy Halladay-Lowry taking second. Hedengren now owns both the indoor and outdoor 5000m records, giving her three total NCAA records along with the 10,000m.
Tessa Buswell clocked a personal-best 2:00.76 in the 800m to move from No. 8 to No. 4 all-time at BYU. The sophomore finished third in the elite section, less than a second behind second place. Krystie Solomon-Jensen notched a new personal best in the invite section with her 2:03.43 for 10th.
Jenna Hutchins added another top-10 performance, clocking a 15:15.76 for No. 5 all-time at BYU while competing alongside Hedengren. She took seventh in the event, improving her previous outdoor best by more than one second. Taylor Rohantinsky rounded out the top-10 performances for BYU, finishing 11th in 15:24.75 to rank No. 8 all-time.

Mt. SAC Relays
Carmen Alder won the 1500m elite section in 4:08.77, finishing more than two seconds ahead of teammate Carlee Hansen-Thompson, who clocked a 4:11.12. Freshman Zariel Machia placed third in 4:21.90 to complete a BYU sweep of the top three spots.
Beach Invitational
Kali McEuan and Mayci Taylor each earned a spot on the program’s best list Saturday at the Beach Invitational at Jack Rose Track.
McEuen clocked a 13.16 in the 100-meter hurdles to take second and finish nearly one-fourth of a second ahead of the rest of the field. The performance earned her the No. 3 spot in program history and her second appearance on the outdoor top 10 list. Additionally, McEuen’s performance ranks as the fifth-fastest in the Big 12 this season. Zoey Bonds also competed in the event and placed third.

Taylor rises from No. 9 to No. 4 on the 400m hurdles rankings, as she won in 57.31. The senior beat the rest of the field by nearly a full second.
The relay squad of McEuen, Taylor, Marianne Barber and Paje Rasmussen won two events Saturday. Rasmussen anchored them to a win in the 4x100m, which they won in 44.30, and Taylor later helped them reach a 3:38.45 to tie for first in the 4x400m.
Rasmussen also won the 200m, matching her outdoor best and No. 2 rank in program history in 23.11. This marks the second time this outdoor season that the Draper, Utah, product has won the 200m.
Kaiah Fisher took third in the discus as she launched a 53.83m/176-6. The Stanford transfer has notched four top-three performances in the event this outdoor season.

For the second straight day, Pili earned a spot on the program’s all-time list. The Las Cruces, N.M. native threw 57.72m/189-4 to place fifth in the hammer throw.
McCuen clocked a 24.10 to win the 200m, with Cambria Hasler finishing second in 24.34. Mikensi Smith placed third, one-hundredth of a second behind Hasler.
Alysa Keller led the Cougars in the javelin throw, finishing fifth with her 47.08m/154-5.
