BYU's Trent Moser takes a swing against UC San Diego in a men's college volleyball match at the Smith Fieldhouse on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026.

BYU’s Trent Moser and Connor Oldani were honored as second team All-MPSF as the league released its awards on Tuesday.

Freshman AJ Cottle earned third team and All-Freshman accolades, and classmate Trevor Herget also made the All-Freshman team.

Moser led the Cougars with 3.25 kills per set this season. He registered 10 or more kills in 18 of the 28 matches he played in. His season-and-career high was 26 kills, coming against USC on April 11, while hitting .452. This is Moser’s second all-conference recognition, as he was also named to the 2023 MPSF All-Freshman Team.

Oldani led the Cougars in total kills with 323. He was the only player on the BYU roster to start all 31 regular-season matches this season. He had a season-high 22 kills against UC Irvine on Jan. 24. Oldani’s 13 digs at Stanford on March 14 were a single-match team high.

Cottle set a BYU rally-scoring record early in the season against UC San Diego when he racked up 10 kills on 10 swings. In that same match he also had a single-match team high of 11 total blocks. Cottle’s 1.01 blocks per set were a team high this season.

Herget was a key contributor off the bench this season, playing in 29 matches and starting seven. He averaged 1.82 kills per set with a .290 hitting percentage. He was especially dangerous from the service line with 17 aces on the season.

UCLA senior setter Andrew Rowan was named MPSF Player of the Year and Pepperdine’s Jose Gomez earned Freshman of the Year.

Hedengren earns national honors

NEW ORLEANS – Jane Hedengren was named Co-USTFCCCA Women’s Athlete of the Week following her record-breaking 5000-meter performance, the organization announced Monday afternoon.

Just two weeks after setting the NCAA 10,000m record, Hedengren ran 14:50.50 to surpass Florida’s Parker Valby’s previous 5000m mark by over a second. The performance earned her her fourth school record and third NCAA record, including the indoor season. Additionally, the true freshman’s time ranks as current World No. 2 outdoors.
