While Orem residents have been living their lives the past few years, the people at Dillard’s have been spending their time building a new anchor store at University Place.

The new location was previously space for stores like ZCMI and Macy’s. It has been a prominent location both at the old University Mall and the new redesign of the University Place campus. The new Dillard’s anchor will add an upgraded styling to the mall and its retailers.

On Wednesday, Dillard’s will hold its grand opening and ribbon cutting with guests, door prizes and more after a soft opening for the location on Friday.

Robert Glodowski, store manager, said the new mall anchor has 160,000 square feet of space to sell and display products. From head to toe, the store is ready to serve its customers with some brands new to Utah County.

“This mall is amazing, this area is amazing. We are bringing an increased assortment of brands and better brands,” Glodowski said. “Provo was a C location, but Orem will be an A store.

Among the services offered at the new Dillard’s are cosmetic services and makeup lessons, complimentary spa services, tailoring and alterations, bra fittings, gift registries and jewelry repair and soldering.

The Dillard’s store features the national chain’s latest advances in store design and technology – bringing the premium shopping experience to a whole new level for the Provo-Orem area customers, according to a company press release.

Dillard’s Senior Vice President William Dillard, III will be at the 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting ceremony to be held at the Dillard’s Mall Entrance. The first 300 customers in line at the Dillard’s Mall Entrance will receive a mystery Dillard’s gift card valued from $10-250 and a complimentary Swag Bag, only customers over the age of 18 can receive the gift bag.

The celebration at University Place continues throughout the day with special guest appearances from local celebrities as well as representatives from Dillard’s premier brand partners. The schedule is:

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. — Meet members of Miss Orem Royalty and receive an autographed photo.

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. — Enjoy music & fun provided by a live DJ in the new Junior’s Department.

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. — Meet Holly Arnesen, executive vice president, and Mary Noland, sales director from Liverpool Los Angeles. They will introduce shoppers to the Liverpool spring collection. In the Ladies’ Denim Department.

11 a.m.-5 p.m. — Meet Courtney Levinson, Maui Jim sunglass specialist, for a customized sunglass fitting in the Accessories Department.

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting and to come in and look around and shop at the news store in Utah County.

Dillard’s will be open 7-days a week from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every other day of the week.
