Molly and her son, Jared, are hoping for a merry Christmas, and as part of that hope, Molly is reaching out for help in order to provide presents for Jared. Through United Way’s Sub for Santa program, generous donors have been matched with the family, helping to make their holiday wishes come true.

“Receiving Christmas assistance would greatly impact my family because over the past four years, I have been unable to give my son any kind of Christmas,” Molly said.

The financial struggles are partially due to years of medical problems experienced by Molly. Two years ago, she suffered from sepsis and ended up losing every toe on her left foot. “And I still am dealing with the aftermath and trauma from that and the inability to do certain things with my son that I used to do,” she said.

Last year, in addition to the medical problems, Molly lost her car due to an accident and also has recently experienced the loss of family members. All of these stressful situations are added to the financial stresses experienced by Molly and her son.

Jared is 11 years old and in need of a new winter coat and other clothing items. He would like to get “Harry Potter” or “Dogman” books. He also would enjoy Nerf guns and Legos.

“To be able to give him some sort of a Christmas would be the greatest blessing ever,” Molly said. “He deserves it. He’s such an amazing kid and always looks out for the well-being of those around him. He is always willing to go and serve others, even when we don’t have much. He wants to give to others in need. I’d love for it to be him.”
