Jessica’s current life circumstances are enough to overwhelm anyone during the holiday season.

She and her two children, Braden and William, live in a trailer in the backyard of a friend’s home.

Jessica does not own her own vehicle, and though she was able to secure employment in October, she still has significant financial burdens.

“I haven’t had a full paycheck so I don’t know how much I will have,” Jessica said. “I have to catch up on three months of rent, that’s $600 a month.”

To ease her burden’s, United Way of Utah County’s Sub for Santa program is stepping in during the Christmas season. For more than four decades, the organization has been helping families and single adults have a better Christmas.

Jessica needs socks, underwear and pants for Braden and William. Gift-wise, Braden would like a history book or “Fablehaven” and a screen protector for his cellphone.

William is asking for anything Sonic the Hedgehog or Spider-Man related.

Sub for Santa has become a yearly tradition with around 6,000 people being helped each year.
