Maxine Bateman Covington

Jul 22, 2022

Maxine Bateman Covington, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in American Fork, Utah on July 17, 2022. She was born May 20, 1951, in American Fork, Utah to Ray Clark Bateman and Esther Cook. Maxine married the love of her life, Roger Covington, on November 21, 1969, in Alpine, Utah. She was proud to be from Alpine and spent the majority of her life raising her family there.

Maxine was a dedicated postal worker for over 25 years. She had a love for the outdoors, especially the mountains that surrounded her Alpine home. Her artistic abilities were showcased in her beautiful flower beds and pots year after year, in addition to many chalk paintings. She loved shopping and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She gave 110% in every aspect of her life. Being a mother and grandmother was by far her greatest accomplishment. She never missed a game, recital, or special event. She made many sacrifices to ensure that her children and grandchildren were taken care of. Unfortunately, chronic health conditions impaired her ability to fully enjoy life and many of the hobbies she loved. To know Maxine, was to love her. She had a very generous nature and kind heart that was often expressed in Maxine fashion.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Roger Covington; their children Josh (Megan) Covington, Jayme Covington (Dane Holladay), and Josie (Shawn) Argyle; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Harold Bateman, Joan Caldwell, Maryann Christensen, and Phyllis Beaty. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Ray Clark Bateman and Esther Cook Bateman; brothers David Bateman and Grant Bateman; a sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

A private service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Alpine City Cemetery, 400 Grove Dr, Alpine, Utah.
