Laura Lee Walker

Nov 14, 2022

Laura Lee Walker, 60 of Orem, UT passed away suddenly on November 11, 2022. She was born February 6, 1962, to James Joe Walker and Winifred Marie Earhart in Salt Lake City, Utah. She also had three brothers. Jim and Winnie later divorced. In 1972, Jim married a widow, Jeanne (Kincaid) Cooper, who also had four sons, whom he adopted. With this marriage, five new siblings were born and an adopted one was added, making hers a blended family of 14 children.

The family bought a fruit orchard on the foothills of Mt. Timpanogos in Orem, and they all lived together pruning trees, picking fruit, milking cows and otherwise loving life on a farm. The family moved to the Midwest for about nine years and came back to Orem when she was an adult.

Laura’s life and career included: 18 months as a missionary in the Chili Osorno Mission, several years as a nanny in California, a cook at a local daycare, and a housekeeper at Cirque Lodge. Finally, at around the age of 50, Laura found her passion and became a healing massage therapist, eventually having her own studio. Several of her many beloved clients called her “The Muscle Whisperer.”

She lived her life doting on her only son, Forrest, and filled her life with music, literature, humor, love of nature, the healing power of the universe, and caring for others. She was regarded almost as a second mother to her many nephews and nieces, especially Rylee as well as to Forrest’s friends. Laura will be most remembered for her sincere love and concern for the well-being of everyone she met. She made each one feel so special and uniquely loved. Even in death, she continues to help others by being an organ donor.

Laura’s last few days were spent surrounded by her son, mom Jeanne, four of her siblings, and some of her many nieces and nephews, and all their incredible love for her.

Laura is survived by Forrest Walker of Orem, UT; mom Jeanne Walker of Orem, UT; Carey (David) Jordan of Gainesville, MO; Bob (Dani) Walker of Brimson, MO; Tom Walker of Pasadena, CA; David (Kathi) Walker of Layton, UT; Todd and Wade Walker of Orem, UT; Joe (Tina) Walker of Colorado Springs, CO; Kathi (Robert) Shunn of Hereford, AZ; Ben (Amanda) Walker of Highland, UT; Holly (Brad) Ericksen of Clinton, UT; many nieces and nephews: and her mother Winnie of Salt Lake City, UT.

In addition to her father, Jim, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Monte and Kevin and a sister, Heather.

A dinner and a Celebration of Life for Laura will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm in the Cultural Hall of the Orem East Stake Center at 80 S 280 E, Orem, UT for family and her and Forrest’s close friends.
