Banned fireworks cause brush fire in Provo's Slate Canyon
The state-wide ban on fireworks certainly had plenty of detractors, but early indications are that it worked at limiting wildfire starts caused by the devices. According to Utah Fire Info on Sunday morning, the state had only four new wildfire starts in the previous 24 hours, with one near Roosevelt in eastern Utah, one near Richfield in central Utah, one near Zions National Park in southern Utah, and one near Provo.
