Heavenly intervention

By Randy Wright - | Sep 17, 2012

It should come as no surprise that the BYU-Utah game ended Saturday night on a fluke — a failed field goal attempt in which the ball bounced off the uprights.

I say it was no fluke. It was heavenly intervention.

The timekeeper marked that final play at 11:58 p.m. Had the field goal succeeded, the game would have gone into overtime, which would have made it Sunday. And everybody knows that BYU is not allowed to play on Sunday.

Was BYU kicker Riley Stephenson’s foot guided by an unseen power to hook the game-tying shot and avoid sabbath-breaking? I think the answer is obvious.

Starting at $4.32/week.
