AMERICAN FORK

For the week of Aug. 17-24

UNATTENDED CHILD -- A 31-year-old woman was arrested for leaving her two-year-old son unattended in a vehicle

DRIVING-UNDER -THE-INFLUENCE -- A 45-year-old man was arrested for DUI. The man was involved in a traffic accident where he drifted off of the roadway and ran into a parked vehicle.

CHILD ABUSE -- A 68-year-old woman was arrested for child abuse. The woman was at a local business with her four-year-old granddaughter. Several customers observed the grandmother slap the girl across the face. The child had a bloody nose.

INTOXICATION -- A 21-year-old man was arrested for intoxication He was observed stumbling down the road and yelling at cars as they drove by.

WARRANTS -- A 45-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and false information to a police officer. Officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle. The man gave the officers a false name. He had a warrant for his arrest and officers found him in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

RETAIL THEFT -- Two 18-year-old women and one 19-year-old woman were arrested for retail theft after they attempted to take $130. clothing and jewelry items from a local business.

RETAIL THEFT -- An 18-year-old man was arrested for retail theft.The man was an employee at a local business. While working there he marked several electronic items down in price and then attempted to purchase them at the lower price. The approximate value of the items was $950.

UNATTENDED CHILD -- A 24-year-old woman was arrested for leaving her four-year-old son unattended in a vehicle.

RETAIL THEFT -- A 47-year-old woman and a- 44-year-old woman were arrested for retail theft after they attempted to take $800. in electronic items from a local business.

CEDAR FORT

Noise complaint -- A deputy responded to the report of a noisy late-night party that was disturbing neighbors. The officer spoke with the homeowner about the complaint and noise restrictions. The resident agreed to comply.

CEDAR HILLS

GRAFFITI -- Officers were called to investigate a report of graffiti painted on a church building.

Eagle Mountain

Open container -- A deputy stopped a vehicle on Ranches Parkway for no taillights. The officer saw an open container in the vehicle. The driver was cited for allowing an open container in the vehicle and warned about the taillight. A passenger was also cited for having an open container in the vehicle.

Illegal possession -- A vehicle in the Hidden Valley area was pulled over by a deputy who noticed an erratic driving pattern and checked to see if the driver needed assistance. The officer noticed the smell of tobacco coming from the vehicle. Both passengers were underage to have cigarettes in their possession. The officer searched the occupants of the vehicle and found prescription pills in their pockets. They were cited for illegal possession of prescription medication.

LEHI

JUVENILE PROBLEM -- A juvenile was cited for criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana on Aug 12.

DUI -- On Aug 12, a man was cited for DUI, expired driver's license, and plates to another vehicle.

DUI -- Officers cited a man for DUI on Aug. 12. One passenger in the vehicle was cited for illegal consumption. Another passenger was cited for open container.

THEFT -- A man was cited for theft of construction materials and for driving on a denied driver's license on Aug. 13.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE -- On Aug 14, a man was cited with expired registration. A male passenger was booked into the Utah County Jail on a warrant.

VEHICLE THEFT -- A juvenile boy was arrested on Aug. 14 on theft of a vehicle, driving without a license, and driving without insurance. He will go to Juvenile Court.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE -- A man was cited on Aug 16 for speeding, revoked registration, and no insurance.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE -- An individual was cited on Aug, 17 for driving on suspension, no insurance, speeding, and no registration

VEHICLE BURGLARY -- A laptop computer valued at $1,000 was stolen from a vehicle after unknown person or persons broke the vehicle window.

DUI -- A man was arrested on Aug. 18 for DUI, driving on a suspended driver's license, and an outstanding warrant.

BURGLARY -- On Aug. 18, a man was booked into the Utah County Jail on attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, trespassing, and criminal mischief.

PLEASANT GROVE

ASSAULT -- On Aug. 24, police responded to a physical fight between a mother and her 14-year-old daughter. Dispatch also informed police that a knife was being used in the altercation. Officers arrived and arrested the 14-year-old girl for aggravated assault and took her to Vantage Point Youth Services in Provo. She was also issued a citation to appear in 4th District Juvenile Court on the charges.

BURGLARY -- An unknown person unlawfully entered an apartment in Pleasant Grove on Aug. 21 and ransacked the apartment. A watch, cash, and personal photographs were taken. The report was made by two of the three apartment occupants. The third occupant, not contacted at the time of the report, is the victim of the theft.

BURGLARY -- A 2000 blue Yamaha motor cycle was reported stolen from a garage on Aug. 24.

BUSINESS BURGLARY -- Theft of a Sony digital camera, Panasonic digital camera, and accessories were reported stolen from a business. Reported on Aug. 25, entrance was gained by damaging a window.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF -- A caller reported on Aug 20 that someone cut down two peach trees in their yard.

CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PROBLEM -- On Aug 24, officers responded to a report of someone possibly smoking a controlled substance with a glaspols pipe. The complainant said he witnessed a man smoking from a glass pipe while seated in a semi-truck. Officers located the semi-truck and made contact with the man in the truck who denied smoking anything. Officers could not detect an odor or any evidence of drug use. The man was released without incident. Officers were unable to contact the complainant and do not know if this was the right truck driver or not.

THEFT -- Officers made contact with an individual on Aug. 20 who said his mail had been stolen. He said this had been happening over about three months.

VEHICLE BURGLARY -- A wallet containing drivers license and credit cards was reported taken from a vehicle on Aug. 22. A suspect was arrested by South Jordan police.

THEFT -- A man and three juveniles, employees of a business, were arrested in connection with the theft of money from the business. This was on Aug. 24.

SARATOGA SPRINGS

Domestic violence -- Police officers responded to the Lake Mountain Estates subdivision on a report of domestic violence. The officers determined that an aggravated assault had occurred, and that a .45 caliber handgun had accidentally discharged during this dispute. Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the dispute. The suspect was arrested at the scene and booked into the Utah County Jail.

Stolen vehicle recovered -- A patrol officer noticed a stolen vehicle at the crossroads of SR 68 and SR 73, and attempted to stop the vehicle in the Eagle Mountain Mr. Airey subdivision at 2 a.m. on Aug. 17. The suspect attempted to flee the scene. The officer followed the suspect, who then fled on foot. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen from Taylorsville, and the vehicle was recovered. Inside the vehicle, other stolen items were recovered along with drug paraphernalia.
