NTSB releases preliminary report on fatal Provo plane crash
The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report on a fatal plane crash that occurred near Provo Airport last month. On Aug. 7, a plane piloted by student pilot Chase Day took off from Provo Airport and then went down moments later in Utah Lake, killing Day. A female flight instructor survived with serious injuries. The flight, operated by ATP Flight School, began climbing to the southeast with a groundspeed of 68-75 mph before beginning a rapid descent, coming down in marshland in Provo Bay, according to the NTSB.
