By Amy Osmond Cook - Stage Marketing | Feb 26, 2022

Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean you should leave romance behind. There are plenty of fun and romantic couples activities to enjoy in Utah County – and they don’t have to break the bank. Here’s a list of 18 options to get you started. Have your partner pick a number between one and 18 and go enjoy date night!

Be playful

“In romantic relationships, (being playful) increases satisfaction and may even lead to longer connections,” says Brittany Risher at Fatherly. Check out these three ideas for being playful together:

  1. Head to Nickel City in Orem. Admission is $2.50, laser tag is $4 and arcade games are just a nickel each. It’s a great place to rekindle childhood fun!
  2. Have a night themed around the year you met, got married or started dating. Watch a movie that was popular that year, turn on the top 100 songs and, to take it up a notch, do it all while wearing an outfit that reflects the era.
  3. Plan your dream vacation – the sky’s the limit! Choose your ultimate place to stay, a once-in-a-lifetime activity and the unforgettable local dishes you want to try. And hey, if you keep saving money like you are now, this dream vacation may become a reality!

Take a romantic stroll

As you walk together through life, physically walking together can be a great way to connect! Here are a few ideas for walks you can take outside of your neighborhood:

  1. BYU botany pond and grounds. Leave the bread at home and bring frozen peas or sliced grapes for the ducks instead!
  2. Downtown Provo Art Stroll. Head to downtown Provo on the first Friday of every month to check out the art and enjoy refreshments and live music.
  3. Provo City Library at Academy Square. It’s a beautiful, historic building with tons of books. Pretty romantic, huh?
  4. Springville Museum of Art. This celebration of art is truly a gem in Utah County, and you can walk through for free.
  5. Roots of Knowledge. Okay, so it won’t take you very long to walk by, but this stained glass panorama at Utah Valley University is a must-see!
  6. Blickenstaff’s and Moon’s Rare Books at the Shops at Riverwoods in Orem. These stores are perfect for window shopping. There are so many rare and delightful things to see. Plus, Riverwoods has several affordable restaurants you can stop by on your way back to your car.
  7. The Flower Factory in Mapleton. There’s something about being surrounded by flowers that really lifts your spirits. Take a stroll through the rows of colorful flowers, and maybe even pick out a planter to take home.

Try these warm, fuzzy activities

Get ready to grow closer together with one of these activities:

  1. Hold hands while you share popcorn and see a cheap movie at Water Gardens Theater in Pleasant Grove.
  2. Snuggle up as you ride the TRAX up and down Utah County. This month, it’s free!
  3. Pack some hot chocolate and a blanket, hike a little ways up your nearest mountain and watch the sunset together. Doesn’t get more romantic than that!
  4. Volunteer at Community Action Services and Food Bank in Provo together. This is a great organization that helps individuals and families become more self-reliant. Volunteering together will definitely bring you closer and leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Cook up a dessert for two

There’s nothing better than trying a sweet treat with your sweetheart. Here are some ideas for places to go:

  1. Pick out a chocolate bar or dessert at Taste in Provo. They have artisan chocolate from around the world, and some bars are made in house! You can also stop by for a mini chocolate tasting for just $8 a person.
  2. Speaking of chocolate, try the chocolate lava cake at Bona Vita Italian Bistro in Lehi. Delicious!
  3. Do a dessert challenge together. Set a challengingly low budget or pick an unusual ingredient and see what you can come up with! When you try the dessert, light some candles for added romantic ambiance.
  4. Eat at home, and then head to your favorite restaurant for dessert. You’ll save a ton of money, plus you’ll get to try something you may usually be too full to order!

Shake up your date night routine by choosing one of these easy — and cheap or free — activities. From bringing out your inner child to getting dessert, these local activities are sure to bring you closer together.
