William Fraser Buck ll

Mar 15, 2024

1944 – 2024

William Fraser Buck ll, 79, was called to serve in a new area on March 13, 2024, having left a few weeks before his 80th birthday from Orem, Utah. Fraser’s great heart, kind soul and humble spirit remained constant throughout his life on earth. His physical limitations were the only thing that kept him tethered, his spirit and faith in Jesus Christ knew no bounds. His heart and his desires were looking upward, and his family is certain that he will continue on in the sharing of the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This surf loving fellow was born on May 6, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He lived part of his life in Ogden, Utah moving at the age of 13 to Los Angeles, California. His years in California were spent sometimes turning left to visit the beach instead of turning right to go to school. However, his decision to take the straight and narrow path, led to a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the New England States Mission, which at the time included Canadian provinces, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. After his mission, he met and married his eternal companion, Lynette Riding on January 27, 1967. He often quipped “She got her Buck and I got my Dear.” During their marriage, while raising 9 children and most often working just under 70 hours per week, Fraser earned both his bachelor’s degree and his MBA from Brigham Young University. His children remember his wonderful sense of humor, his love of the outdoors, his humility, his graciousness, and his thoughtfulness. His children are grateful for his example of hard work, sportsmanship, and integrity. Fraser was generous in sacrificing and making time to give his children and grandchildren wonderful life experiences and cherished memories.

Although he served and enjoyed many church callings throughout his life, among his top favorites were serving in the nursery where he felt the love the Savior had for the children; serving in the Blazer B class, (implementing his famous Tootsie Awards) where he made an impact not only in his own son’s lives, but the lives of other young men and he deeply loved his service in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. A great service he rendered was his generous desire to support missionaries, whether family or friend.

He is survived by his wife, Lynette (Riding); his children, Kimberly, Arienne (Paul) Kocherhans, Tamara (Joel) Peterson, Joshua (Kristen), Zackary (Denise), Gabriel (Tiffany), Bethany, Emily (Kyle) Wangemann, Cassandra (Jonathan) Player; 40 precious grandchildren; and 22 treasured great-grandchildren.

He reunites on the other side with his Father, Bill; his mother, Ada; his brother, Georgie; his great-granddaughter Grace; and his friend and sidekick, Tagg “the best dog ever.” We love you. ’til we meet…

The family would like to give extra special thanks to the Rocky Mountain Personal Care staff that helped care for Fraser, to the Symbii staff who graced his life with the love and dignity that he deserved while on hospice, and for the tireless, caring staff at Covington Senior Living facility for their attentiveness and hours of respectful ministering to Fraser day and night.
