First confirmed measles case in Salt Lake County points to community spread

Salt Lake County says its first confirmed case of measles this year is worrying because it suggests the virus is spreading in the community. “This case is especially concerning because the source of the patient’s infection is unknown,” said Dorothy Adams, executive director of the Salt Lake County Health Department. “They have not knowingly had contact with anyone who had measles, which means their infection is the result of transmission somewhere out in the community.” The county warned that anyone who went to Intermountain Health’s Taylorsville urgent care clinic on Nov. 7 ...
