Provo man dies after being struck by suspected DUI driver, police say
An 80-year-old man was struck by a suspected DUI driver Monday and died from his injuries, according to Provo police spokesperson Jana-Lee Holland. . Mario Valer, of Provo, was crossing the roadway at 920 S. and 100 West just after 6 p.m. when he was hit by a truck driven by Jason Phillips, 42, of Pleasant Grove, Holland said. Valer was transported to Utah Valley Hospital in critical condition but did not survive.
